Trailer Research Task 2
The second case study we looked at was the trailer for 'The house at the end of the street' 2012 film.
Writers - David Loucka & Jonathan Mostow
Directed by - Mark Tonderai
Plot - A mother and daughter move to a new town and find themselves living next door to a house where a young girl murdered her parents. When the daughter befriends the surviving son, she learns the story is far from over.
Genre - Horror
Length of trailer - 2 minutes, 5 seconds
Analysis -
The first thing which we liked about this piece was the backdrop image situated behind the pop up quotes as we feel that it sets the horrific atmosphere which the film is trying to portray. Secondly when the advertisment gets to 1.15 a lot of the clips reverse in time for example the tap dripping backwards, we feel this is extremely effective as it links in with the pop up quotes stating 'you have to go back to where it all began' as it is reversing in time.
